Smoke Bombs: create an opaque cloud of harmless dust 1" in diameter and kept in shape by a surface charge. Blocks infra and ultra vision and hence most lasers. Lasts 1D4 turns, if violently disrupted (e.g. whirlwind, (Hand) Blaster) then only lasts 1D4 rounds. Activated by impact or a (1-5 round) time trigger. Uses: once(each), 5 bombs. Weight: 5gp(each).

Crystal Armour: is a complete set of Plate armour made from shaped interlocking plates of crystal, with Cloth adjustment straps which allow some variation in the wearer's size. This is a basic +1 giving AC2, with a 20% chance of being +2 giving AC1, traditionally made transparent. At +1L the base bonus is +3 giving AC0 (20% chance of being +4 giving AC-1), traditionally +3/+4 is ruby. The crystal plates require all that can be constructed with a single use of Crystal Sheet (see "Alchemical Devices"), but if desired an equivalent (medium) shield may be made in parallel at +50% cost and +5 days, at +1L the shield takes +10 days; the roll for the bonus controls both armour and shield. There is a 25% chance of being flawed (-5% per level Tech is above 10th) giving a 5% chance of shattering when struck (for simplicity assume this happens on an unmodified roll of 20 when hit). Embedded defence devices in the armour and shield are quite popular, as is Powered Armour. Uses: none. Weight: half armour (and shield).

Crystal Shield: is normally made with Crystal Armour, and is the same bonus. Shields do not tend to be made alone, but if desired three with the same bonus could be made with a single use of Crystal Sheet (see "Alchemical Devices"); a fourth cannot be made in parallel. Sight through the field in either direction is only possible with some means of seeing invisible or UV vision, a Holo Camera or Image Scanner of sufficient range/radius works. Spy Beam Block: prevents a Spy Beam or any form of skrying which uses the Ethereal Plane from reaching into or out of the blocked volume. Multi-Planar Theory I is required. Also acts as a Body Shield of -1L. Blocks Transceivers and Comm. Mesh. Will only block a Spy Beam of +1L or a magical effect x2L level of effect, e.g. at L=5th blocks a Spy Beam I or a 10th level skryer (stops most skrying except Crystal Balls). Uses: 1ep/1"rad/turn. Weight: 100gp.

Distort: creates a visual and mental distortion effect around an area 1"-3"rad (x2/extra L). Biological Theory II is needed to understand how this device works. This makes the area blend in with its surroundings and prevents unintelligent creatures entering by causing unease, even intelligent creatures will unconsciously avoid the area and can only enter it by saving V fear (-2 save/extra L). A properly used or set Field Demodulator allows free access. From within there is no sign of the distortion except for a faint shimmering. Uses: 10ep/1"rad/turn. Weight: 500gp.
